I’ve always heard good things about makeup geek eyeshadows but not having open palettes like a Z-palette or others that are similar. Since I now own open palettes I was able to finally purchase a few of these. I tried to pick colors that I do not already have from another company or of course if it’s a duochrome I need it. I landed on six shadows to start with. BlackLight comes off as a lavender duochrome shade with ice blue reflects, Shore thing which is a matte sea foam green/mint color, Fuji which is a matt warm lime green (though lime might not be the correct shade to reference), Masquerade which is a foiled plum which comes off as more of a pinky purple shade it has warm undertones. Rockstar is a duochrome silver with purple/pink reflects and Bleached blonde is a shimmery pale gold. As most people…
Firstly, happy April fools day! I’ve been enjoying a number of the april fools day commercials (if you haven’t seen them you need to check out the essurance one as well as the google cardboard plastic goggles to start). I wanted to share the board which will be the same board I use for any future beauty basic pin related posts. This pinterest board below is in constantly flux as I will continue to add content. Here are the pins I suggest checking out from this board: Beauty Hacks you wish you knew yesterday The ultimate guide to great skin 2016 cruelty free brands Skin undertones – where do you stand on the color wheel? I honestly don’t remember the day when I purchased this palette but I wish I did. I had always loved Too face palettes because they are so incredibly adorable but I could never justify buying one because their shades are usually very shimmery or glittery, knowing that I would probably rarely ever use it. So I came across this palette and saw that there were actually mattes in the mix. I figured this was the one for me. (For once I didn’t research it lol.) As with many of their palettes there is a nifty card that shows you how to use the palette to do different looks or transition a look from day to night. The card secures in the lid of the palette so it isn’t bouncing around. The palette itself is a tin; it also has a mirror on the inside. The sturdy structure, size and material…
I received the sigma girl color pop brush collection in my order along with the [Sigma brush cleaning mat] which I already reviewed. I purchased this set of brushes for $29.00 USD which I think is a steal as far as sigma brushes go. I used this set (and only this set) during my trip to Orlando, Florida in January. It was sufficient for my trip and the added bonus that the container was hard kept the brushes in perfect condition in my luggage. The brushes in this set are the following: E25 – Blending E55 – Eye shading F40 – Large angled contour Some benefits as I always say with travel brushes is that the handles are shorter. This allows someone like myself, who is partially blind to get close enough to the mirror. They are shorter than the full size but longer than the free gift brushes. The…
Along with the ColourPop eye shadows I purchased [see the ColourPop eye shadow review] I got a set of lippie stix. Firstly, might I say the lip sticks smell so darn good, sweet like ice cream cake, I’m in love! Similar to the eye shadow I found the price to be pretty accurate/low for the product. I enjoyed the crème lipsticks the best but the matte were also interesting; they have the typical wear of lipstick with more application control. I even found them somewhat moisturizing. The packaging was cute and sleek. I appreciate that the color is on the bottom of the lipstick and this particular set had a variety of matte, pearl and crème. The shade plastics was probably the only one which I was disappointed with. What I loved about this set was that it was only $20 USD and I was very surprised to see it…
As you probably know when I typically go to review a company producing eye shadows I try to look for stand out items. I do this partly because I don’t need 30 of almost the same shade and partly because I want to experience the range of the company to see if I would purchase again. Here I purchased 6 shadows in various shades at a net weight of 2.1g each cost me $5.00USD. Only snap dragon was a matte shade the rest were either metallic or had either some form of glitter/pearl to them. Telepathy somewhat reminded me of a trophy wife by Glamour doll eyes. I had a few posts on a few years ago using trophy wife. I’ve taken a snapshot of the swatches I did, one swatch each without any type of base or primer. They are extremely pigmented. The shadows are very silky to the…
I’ve used the sigma spa express to clean my brushes on more than one occasion recently and I really love the experience. First off I’ve always dreaded washing brushes because come on, who looks forward to it. But this little gadget actually cleaned my brushes more effectively but also I enjoyed using the different sections. At a price of just $25 USD I think this item is a steal. (There is also a larger mat for $32 USD.) How it works The Sigma spa express mat suctions to your sink and around the drain. There are two sections one side is for eyes the other for face brushes. So you start by wetting the mat and adding your chosen cleaning solution, here I used baby shampoo. For the deep clean you focus on the section labeled wash. Depending on the section you may want to do a swirl motion, in…
I really love this group of items because I feel like for $25 someone who does not know much about lip products could find a few gems as well as find out what type of lip products they enjoy from lip tints to liquid lipstick and all the lippy love in between. Each has varying formulas from moisturizing, slight tackiness, to more traditional lipstick formulas. With this package you could have a shade for every season. Sephora Collection – 2mL – Rouge infusion the neutrals in 19 – Peony Smells like candy. This was probably the most confusing shade for me. The labeled color is actually very similar to the application shade except the shade on the container looks crème and the shade when you apply has a pink undertone/shine. However when you open the container, it looks as if you are about to apply the shade fuchsia. Also I…
May it be tacky or not sometimes I need to experiment with color at the extremes and this was such a day. I did a gradient lip with my interpretation of the night sky/galaxy style eye. I used a combination of coastal scents and sleek makeup. Kat Von D lipstick in bachlorette for the base lip color with a mixture of orange and yellow shadows with clear lip gloss for the gradient effect.
Hey all! I bring you my review, or rather rave, about the Kat Von D mini lip set that I found at Sephora. Firstly the application of the lipsticks is smooth. You don’t have to work for your lip color, the set is very pigmented. Almost all of the shades are very bold and fun. I paid $39 for the set and it was well worth it! The packaging feels a bit cheaper only because it is plastic but it is super cute, studded and I haven’t had any issues with closing. The cap fits snug. My only bad comment really is that if you have dry skin such as I do be ABSOLUTELY sure to prep your pout first and be aware that any oils you may place on your lips will of course break down your lipstick faster than normal. I will be going back to get a…
