Our first interview is with the lovely creators and finders of vintage treasures at {Pioneer Vintage Co.} a phenomenal local etsy seller.

1. How did you come up with your shop name?

The name is based on Michele’s favorite poem, “Pioneers, O’ Pioneers” by Walt Whitman.

2. What inspires you when creating or choosing an item for your shop?

We are inspired by the idea of bringing new life to past trends. We’re able to do this by finding vintage treasures and also by putting our own spin on our favorite past trends with our handmade items. A good example of this idea is our twist-top headbands, inspired by the housewives of the 1940’s-50’s, which we designed with a wire on the inside so that you can literally just twist the top for the perfect retro look.

3. What are your personal favorite items in your shop right now?

Our current favorite items are our handmade retro-style aprons. We have more on the way in some pretty awesome prints, so keep an eye on our etsy shop!

4. What advice would you give for opening an Etsy Shop/Business?

Our best advice to anyone considering starting an Etsy Shop or small business is to do something that you really love doing, because if it takes off you are going to be putting a lot of hours in. Think things through. Have a work space you like being in. Utilize social media. Put in a lot of thought before you make that leap. If you love what you do, then you’ll find a way to make it work.
