Periwinkle is one of my favorite colors, but I also just love the word. I love to say it, I love the way it looks. To me, it is synonymous with “whimsical” and that is how I think of my art.
2. What inspires you when creating or choosing an item for your shop?
I usually have a problem with too many ideas and narrowing down where to start. I make tons of lists that both help me priorities where to start and which ideas to work on first. I am often inspired by visual arts or random illustrations. Sometimes an image from one of my children’s books can send me down a creative path. Or a mural on the wall (we have a lot of those in the Philadelphia area). I am also mesmerized by colors and patterns. Sometimes I will see combination of colors that will inspire me to create a new line of party items that integrates that combination.
3. What are your personal favorite items in your shop right now?
I just added a few sets baby shower party items that are on a chalkboard background that I really like. But my all time favorites are my giraffe baby shower with the mommy giraffe kissing her baby, and the mason jar/chalkboard wedding shower line.
4. What advice would you give for opening an Etsy Shop/Business?
Make a plan. Set goals. Know what is popular and then put your own spin on it. Your items will only sell if they are unique and offer the customer something they can’t find elsewhere.
